THE GOOD HOUND PACK
Meet Ana
Founder & Behavioural Dog Trainer

Ana is the passionate force behind The Good Hound Company,
a Melbourne-based dog training service.
Her journey into canine behaviour began in 2015 while studying a Bachelor Degree in Animal and Veterinary Science.
Wanting more hands-on experience, she began fostering dogs through Starting Over Dog Rescue, and it was her second foster Rocco, a 4-year-old Staffy x Shar Pei, who would change everything.
Rocco came with serious behavioural challenges, including aggression toward men and other dogs. Despite trying various training methods for years, it wasn’t until Ana discovered Behavioural Dog Training that she saw true and lasting change.
Rocco’s transformation became the turning point, showing Ana just how powerful the right approach could be in helping dogs feel safe, understood and calm. It wasn't about teaching him more commands, or using a firmer/louder tone or distracting him with treats... it was about showing him that I was the calm, reliable leader he could trust to take on the things that scared him. Rocco was able to relinquish all protective and defensive responsibilities to me and our relationship changed forever! He became incredibly calm and confident in social situations that would have otherwise ended in chaos.
Rocco went on to help rehabilitate hundreds of reactive, aggressive and antisocial dogs, with his calm and well-balanced nature.
So by the time Ana graduated, dog training went from a side hustle to a true calling.
Ana founded The Good Hound Company with a clear mission: to help all dogs, regardless of age, breed, size, past or temperament, live balanced, peaceful lives with the people who love them.
With years of experience in canine behaviour, Ana specialises in addressing the root causes of behavioural issues using a calm, confident and balanced approach. Her philosophy is grounded in a deep respect for natural dog behaviour and psychology, with an emphasis on trust, communication and long-term behavioural change.
Today, her rescued German Shepherd Vinny has taken the reins, assisting other dogs as they work through anxiety and reactivity around other dogs.
More recently, Ana welcomed Apple Blossom aka Blossy, an aggressive rescue dog who has now been part of the pack for the past nine months. Like many rescue dogs, Blossy arrived with behavioural challenges and required time, patience and structured behavioural training to build confidence and learn how to trust humans again.
Working through this journey together has reinforced Ana’s belief that every dog is different and that real behavioural change comes from understanding the individual dog and guiding them toward calm, balanced behaviour over time.
As a Melbourne dog trainer specialising in behavioural dog training, her goal is not only to train and rehabilitate dogs, but to empower owners with the tools and confidence to build a lifelong partnership with their dogs.
When she’s not working with clients, Ana spends time with her own pack and still volunteers, fostering dogs and supporting foster carers for Starting Over Dog Rescue.
Ana’s motto is “Every Dog Is Different.” Because of this, she continues to grow her skills through ongoing study and hands-on learning.
At The Good Hound Company, we’re proud to follow her lead, specialising in behavioural dog training that transforms lives!
Join us on the journey to better communication, a calmer mind and a happier life with your dog.
